Celebrating World Tourism Day 27th September 2016

Promoting Universal Accessibility for All

Traveling opens doors to new worlds, new people, new languages and new cultures.

Today there are 1.2 billion people traveling the world for pleasure and for work. There is a lot of evidence to show that traveling really does benefit people and economies.

Traveling the world has never been easier, for most of us. There are still many hurdles for those with disabilities and this means 15% of the population are still not able to travel due to lack of accessibility.

This year the World Tourism Day is promoting Tourism for all of us.

How accessible is Guernsey?

How accessible is Guernsey for our foreign friends? There are many online websites with information about certain hotels and restaurants with access.

The buses have low ramps for wheelchair access but how about things like braille signs? Is there enough? Could Guernsey do more to help promote tourism for all?
