In a fast-moving, high-pressure environment with everyone having such busy lives, it’s important to be able to take a break. The brain is a muscle, and whilst working it out will strengthen it, it’s also important to give it a rest and let it recover. Better still is if you can have some fun during the recovery period!
Socialising with colleagues in a different environment outside work can be very rewarding both for a company and the individuals themselves. If you’re not able to relate to your coworkers as human beings and build positive relationships, your career will also suffer. Socialising and getting to know them as people will help you to communicate better, trust each other more and work better together. Also, employees who have positive workplace relationships are happier at work (in fact, good workplace relationships are one of the most important sources of workplace happiness) and we know that people who are happy at work are more productive, more creative and more successful overall.
We at Accent thinks the same and every now and then meet up for a social outing. It is not always easy to get everyone out on the same evening or even at the same time on a specific evening, especially when different cultures, family commitments and different working patterns are involved, but we try hard to bring everyone together and enjoy some time in a relaxing atmosphere. With our teachers and staff being from very different backgrounds and countries, these evenings make always for an interesting entertainment – and especially thanks to our South American staff we can count on long outings till the early hours of the morning, dancing away the night!
