Guernsey Global Community Meetup celebrates Oktoberfest

The 5th Guernsey Global Community meet up has a positively German feel this month to celebrate Oktoberfest otherwise known as die Wiesn to the locals.
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Beer Festival in Munich, Bavaria
This is a beer and folk festival on a gigantic scale. Now in it’s 183rd year the festival continues to attract huge crowds from all over the world.
In 2013 it was recorded that 7.7 million litres of beer was served during the 16-day festival, some of which is free!
The only beer approved to be served at the festival is beer brewed in Munich and the beer has to conform to the Reinheitsgebot, German beer purity law. This ensures the festival stays completely authentic and traditional.
Oktoberfest Traditional German Food
The beer goes down very nicely when accompanied with a nice German Würstl or Schweinebraten (sausage and roast pork) some of the traditional food served at the event.
