Becoming a host family is a fantastic experience and is very rewarding. Not only do we get fantastic praise from our students visiting Guernsey about the time spent with their host families, but many also want to come back and revisit their host families the next year making a forming and lasting friendship. It is also a great opportunity for your children to make new friends and work on their language skills!
It doesn’t matter whether you live in a house with a big garden, or whether you live in a flat in town. If you have space for a student (or two or more!) and would like to host, we would love to welcome you to our hosting family.
Host families are asked to provide their student(s) with breakfast, dinner & send them off with a packed lunch each day.
Students will spend Monday – Friday with Accent, having English lessons in the morning before experiencing lots of fun activities in the afternoon. They get dropped off for 8.45am and get picked up again at 5pm. Once a week we offer an evening activity which typically ends around 7.30pm. Students spend the weekends with their host families and often get together. Students can take the bus and we provide bus cards.
When staying with a host family, it is excellent experience for the student that has come here to learn the English language being in a house that is English spoken but it can also be an excellent experience for you, especially if you are interested in learning their language too!
Each year, we have a wide range of nationalities and ages coming for language holidays in Guernsey and staying for varying lengths of time.
Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn: there is never a bad time to join our Accent family, so please, no matter what time of year, if you’re interested in hosting for us at some time, please get in contact with us!
*Please note, we must ask that the head of each family provide us with a DBS police check. If you do not have one, we can organise this for you.
