Host families required for foreign students coming to Guernsey
We are looking for host families to welcome foreign students to Guernsey, giving them an experience they will never forget and giving you the opportunity to create long lasting friendships with young people from other cultures.
Being a host family for International Students is a unique, fun and rewarding experience for all members of the family especially for Guernsey children who will enjoy practicing their language skills, sharing experiences and finding out more about life in other countries.
As a host you will provide a safe and comfortable environment for our students to feel relaxed and encourage them to practice their English, and for you to practice your language skills.
Students want to spend time living the Guernsey way of life, immersing themselves in the culture, practicing their language skills and making new friends on the Island. Creating great memories.
The time students spend living with their host family is an important part of their language learning development allowing them to live among local people, listening and partaking in conversations not found in the classroom.
Host Family Requirements
We are looking for all types of people who have a room or two preferably in or around St Peter Port area who have access to transport to get students to and from the Language School in Commercial Arcade for their classes.
Host families can have pets and you can host more than one student at a time if you have the capacity.
Encouraging students to speak English in the home on a one to one basis allows them to pick up expressions and develop and natural accent. For some of our students it may be the first time out of their native country, so for them it will be an exciting adventure.

It is important that we match the right student with the right family so we take into account any special requirements and suitability.
There are long term and short term placements and you can inform us of dates you are unavailable. Support from Accent and other host families If you feel unsure or anxious at any time then Accent and other host families are on hand to offer advice and support.

Hosting fees
If you are hosting a foreign student with Accent then you will receive monetary compensation to cover the costs incurred. These fees may vary so please contact us for details.
